Boss really re-imagined the looper with the RC-505. Before that, loopers were mostly intended for guitarists but could still support microphones. Things changed with the rise of musicians (like DubFX) who incorporate looping into non-guitar music. The RC-505 changed the rugged footswitches for bigger, softer buttons, becoming the first true tabletop looper. The RC-505 did a lot right, and they don’t have to improve the formula too much to produce something amazing. So, have they succeeded? Or should you just stick with the old model? Check Amazon Price

Boss RC-600 Loop Station Review
The Boss RC-600 is the new “flagship” looper for players who want as much functionality as possible, despite the size. It’s intended as the successor the older RC-300, boasting six independent tracks for an unparalleled looping experience. But does it live up to expectations? Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-5 Loop Station Review
Boss pretty much dominates the looping world. Their RC series of pedals have been among the most sought-after pedals in the field since they were first released, and they also do a pretty admirable job of meeting the varied needs of people looking for looper pedals. In particular, you don’t have to pick up a behemoth unit like the RC-300 (and now 500), because they have some stripped-down, stompbox-sized options out there too. The RC-3 was awesome, but the RC-5 aims to improve on the same formula. Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-500 Loop Station Review
The RC-500 is a bit of a departure from its predecessor, the RC-30. While the older unit had a just two footswitches, supplemented with a fairly busy upper section, the RC-500 adds an extra switch and streamlines the top. There are three metallic footswitches on the lower half of the body, angled towards you as you play, with a series of buttons, a couple of dials and two sliders on the top section, surrounding a small LCD display. There is around the same number of buttons, but the design has more of a focus on minimalism and simplicity so it’s less daunting as a new user.Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-10R Rhythm Loop Station Review
For a long time, the rhythm section on looper pedals was kind of crap. Not that it’s not a nice additional feature, more so that it was just something tossed in with some token patterns and often synthetic-sounding drums. But the RC-10R sets out to change all that. It’s essentially the love-child of a traditional, Boss-level looper pedal and a drum machine, complete with interesting patterns, the option to throw in fills and a choice of drum kits so you can change up the sound to suit your compositions. This all seems great on paper, but how does it work out in practice? Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-202 Loop Station Review
Boss’s RC-505 took looping in a new direction. When it was released, looping was really all about guitarists, and it still is today to some extent. But the behemoth of a looper was expressly designed with broader goals in mind. The “tabletop” looper was designed to be operated by hand, and vocalists and beatboxers (like DubFX) were the intended audience more than six-string wielding guitarists. Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-1 Loop Station Review
For a while, it seemed like Boss and Digitech were competing to make the most complicated looper on the planet. Stripped-down, simple-to-use looper pedals are becoming more popular, however. Loopers like the Ditto, JamMan Express XT, and the Nano 360 offer back-to-basics functionality. While Boss is no stranger to compact loopers, options like the RC-2, RC-3, and RC-5, are so loaded with features that you really need an external footswitch to control them. With the RC-1, Boss has ventured into minimalist territory. But in this crowded market of back-to-basics loopers, does the RC-1 really stand out from the competition?Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-505 Loop Station Review
Loopers are traditionally a plaything for guitarists. Boss has played their part in establishing this status quo, putting out numerous looper pedals of varying sizes from the RC-3 style stompboxes through to the behemoth options like the latest flagship, the RC-300. For beatboxers like Dub FX, this meant the only option was to use the supplied mic jacks and use the guitarist-centric pedals their own way. With the RC-505, Boss has thrown out the rule book and made something specifically for beatboxers, synth players, keyboard players and singers looking to enter the world of looping. Boss RC-300 Loop Station Review
The Boss RC-300 Loop Station is the new “flagship” looper from Boss. Being hailed as the second coming before it was even released, the Boss RC-300 has a lot to live up to. Not only was it’s predecessor, the RC-50 Loop Station, loaded with features, Digitech’s competing looper pedal, the JamMan Delay, is similarly large and loaded with cool features. With such stiff competition, the RC-300 Loop Station has to deliver something very special to stand out from the crowd. Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-3 Loop Station Review
Boss released the RC-3 Loop Station in 2011 to replace the older Boss RC-2 Loop Station. Both pedals have now been superseded by the more recently released Boss RC-5 Loop Station as Boss’s top-o-the-line compact looper. Nevertheless, the Boss RC-3 Loop Station is still a powerful looper. You can also probably find it at a significant discount now that it’s an older model. , The RC-3 gives musicians up to 3 hours of stereo recording time and 99 loop memory locations. Boss RC-30 Loop Station Review
In 2011, Boss updated it’s line of looper pedals by releasing the RC-3 Loop Station, the RC-30 Loop Station (reviewed here), and the RC-300 Loop Station. The RC-30 Loop Station is Boss’s updated twin pedal and the mid-sized option of the three. It’s a multitrack looper with two synchronized stereo tracks and built-in loop effects, and hours of recording time. Overall, Boss offers several improvements over Boss’s older twin pedal, the Boss RC-20XL. More recently, however, Boss has released the Boss RC-500 Loop Station which is now Boss’s flagship looper.Check Amazon Price
Boss RC-50 Loop Station Review
Boss has been on the cutting edge of looping technology for some time now. After raising the bar with the RC-20XL, they attempted to build the holy grail of looper pedals with the RC-50 Loop Station. But is the RC-50 really the holy grail, or did they miss the mark? For some basic info on looping, click here. Check Amazon Price
